This painting was inspired by a still life composition drawing that one of my elementary students made under my direction. We discussed overlap, pattern, placement and color. I was very impressed and shared it with my principal. She was not as impressed (not being an artist and apparently not very in tune with the arts) with any of my students’ work. I didn’t get the job there that I was promised. What I was left with was a beautiful student drawing. I ended up using it (somewhat) as the basis for a painting after adding many embellishments. I know in my heart my students learned a lot from me. Sometimes that is enough.
