Some pieces shown here are unfinished or never shared publicly.  Usually I paint in the studio, but I also do a lot of “en plein air” work (or painting on site outdoors).  Occasionally I do paint out of my home if I cant make it to the studio, in case you are wondering about the different backgrounds….

 I recently dropped off the painting for the “Manchester, the Revolution and the War at sea” exhibit about The Revolutionary War in Manchester by-the-sea in Massachusetts.  Since it will be Manchester’s 250th anniversary this year.   Artists had a choice to concentrate on “The War at Sea”, “The War at Home”, “The War at Land”  Their submission parameters were:  “The museum seeks creative interpretations of local Revolutionary events as we aim to bridge the past and the present and highlight Manchester by-the-sea’s unique connection to this pivotal era.”  I chose the “War at Home”, viewing Manchester from atop a hill in 1776:  fewer homes, architecture of the time period, a view of the harbor with schooners included, as many larger boats would get stuck- the passage was not very deep.  But many small boats were enlisted to assist the cause for passing along supplies, information, food for the Continental Army.   The Exhibit opens Thursday, July2nd and ends September 19, 2026.  Opening Reception will be July 2nd, 6-8 pm at the Manchester by-the-sea Museum, 10 Union Street, Manchester by-the-sea, MA, USA.
