This was a window at one point. Now it is an open hole to a city scene behind an aprtment building. The color scheme is red, orange, pink on the buildings and all lines are outlined in blue, shadows are blue. pops of white are around windows and above doors. visible are a few rear buildings showing a porch and staircases downward for mainly fire escape purposes. The patterning (or stripes) from the staircases and the decoration above the windows tell a happy story about community and city life.

I painted this scene for an exhibit on neighborhoods. It came from a photo my friend sent me of a crumbling city scene. I love restoring old buildings even if it’s on the canvas. Bringing them back to life is really thrilling. There’s so much detail and creativity in older architecture. It’s worth saving.
